Owner of Acclaimed! Heating, Cooling & Furnace Cleaning, Keven Lackey, spoke with Global News today about how you can save money in your home.
Alberta’s new Carbon Levy will increase utility costs, affecting homeowners throughout the Edmonton area. Keven talked to Laurel Gregory today about what homeowners can do to save money.
Regularly scheduled maintenance prevents you from having to replace your furnace in the near future and will keep the heat moving throughout your home much more efficiently. This also includes changing your furnace filters regularly.
Using a high-efficiency furnace and turning down your thermostat when you are away and during the night will reduce costs. However, Keven suggests that many programmable thermostats that advertise a 20%-30% savings on your heating bill are realistically closer to the 6%-10% range.
One common step that can go unnoticed is to check the size of your furnace filter. Ensure that it is not an undersized filter. If it is too small it will restrict the amount of airflow that is going through. Having the properly sized filter increases the airflow and reduces the amount of time that your furnace needs to run, also reducing general wear and tear on your system.
Keven also suggests that regularly scheduled maintenance prevents you from having to replace your furnace in the near future and will keep the heat moving throughout your home much more efficiently. This also includes changing your furnace filters regularly.
