It’s one of the most annoying and gross situations that every homeowner will relate to at some point or another: the mysterious stink. This week, Tami and special guest Darlene, our Office Manager, explore a letter from one of our customers who is experiencing stink that they think is coming from the vents.

Here's this week's Dear Keven letter:

Dear Keven:

I have a funky smell coming from my home and it seems to be from my air ducts. Can you help? What are my options to fix it?

Signed,
Stink in the Air

With warm weather coming, pesky rodents who may have claimed your duct work as their final resting place may be thawing out and causing a stink. Watch below for Tami’s tips on what to do about it and other factors that may be causing those unwanted smells.

Here is the latest letter from one of our readers:

Dear Keven,
I recently moved from Calgary to Edmonton.  I had duct cleaning done many years ago by a company, that I don’t want to mention the name of.  My home was a 2000 square foot house and they were in and out in 30 mins.  I felt that the whole thing was a scam and never wanted to get it done again. However, I recently did a major renovation at my new Edmonton home and drywall dust is everywhere so I need to explore this again.
I also own my other home in Calgary and need duct cleaning done there.  What types of things should I ask for when booking my Calgary home and what should I watch for when they show up?
Thanks for the information!
Signed,

Our latest live video features some more great advice and addresses one of the latest questions from our readers, “Just call me Dusty”, panicked over whether they should have a furnace cleaning during reno. Should you wait until the end of renovations to do a furnace and duct cleaning? If you’d prefer to watch this video directly on youtube, click here.

Here is the latest letter from one of our readers:

Dear Keven,

My furnace is on now and I am freaking out. I am in the middle of major renovations and not done until January. Who am I kidding, likely not getting finished until spring?

I am changing my filter every couple of weeks. Based on what I am finding on the filter, I should be doing it weekly. I am worried about our air quality and the furnace getting damaged. I should mention, we are living in the basement throughout the reno.

Do I wait to finish my renos to get my furnace and ducts cleaned, or do it now?

Signed,

Just call me Dusty!
