The "my AC unit is dead, I need a new one" conversation is usually tilted towards the vendor knows the industry inside and out, and consumer knows very little. Luc on the education, "here's your options side" to Stephanie and Mason on the installation side, were top drawer. Acclaimed is business where phone calls/texts/emails are responded to very timely and professionally. No worries recommending them every day.

Very exceptional customer service and prompt repair.
Woke up to a house at 13 celsius. Called them and within a few hours they had responded, sent a technician and resolved the issue.
Not the first time I’ve used them and wouldn’t hesitate to use them again

I would highly recommend this company. Luc came to our house and gave us an estimate. He was very professional and knowledgeable. He was never pushy and really took his time to go through everything with us.

The guys that did the installation were the best. Justin was so accommodating and really took his time with the install. We had a furnace, air conditioner and hot water tank all replaced and they did a phenomenal job. These guys know what they’re doing.

It’s pretty obvious by all the great reviews that this company really cares about customer service and making sure things are done right.

I had my furnace replaced last August and added an air conditioner. I had several quotes and I chose Acclaimed as they are a family run business and their service is excellent with very friendly staff. Luc was my salesman. I was impressed on his thoroughness in explaining everything and his patience with dealing with someone who knew nothing about furnaces and air conditioners.
Ed came out today to check the thermostat and air flow of the furnace and did some adjustments which I am very satisfied with. I was very impressed with his service . They are quick to respond to any service or questions.
I would highly recommend Acclaimed!

We just had Acclaimed! move our furnace vent and do maintenance + cleaning on our 2 furnaces. Overall the experience was great, excellent communication from the company and employees throughout the process, and really friendly workers who were knowledgeable and helpful. I love that they text you when the employee is arriving rather than have us just wait around wondering like so many other service companies. It's a great system. They are coming back to mount the vent on the outside of the house sometime in the next week and I'm sure they will follow through with it. Our cat freaked out and bolted outside while they were cleaning, they warned us to keep an eye on the animals and we did try, but she escaped. For a brief period we were worried she got sucked up by the vacuum, we got in touch with them and they seemed genuinely concerned about our cat. Fortunately, like they said, she showed up a couple hours later as she was hiding. Keep the critters in check while they clean! Overall highly recommend this company!

When Your Furnace Fails: Getting Emergency Help Fast in Northern Alberta

My heater broke down can you find emergency heating repair services in Northern Alberta is a common urgent search during our harsh winter months. The good news is that several companies offer 24/7 emergency heating repair across Northern Alberta. Many established providers have decades of experience and maintain on-call technicians 365 days a year.

Here’s how to get help immediately:

  1. Call 24/7 emergency services – Most major providers have after-hours lines.
  2. Have your furnace details ready – Note the make, model, age, and symptoms.
  3. Check your service area – Verify the company serves your specific location.
  4. Ask about response times – Emergency services typically respond within hours.

When your heater stops working during a cold snap, every minute counts. Northern Alberta winters are unforgiving, and a broken furnace isn’t just uncomfortable—it’s a safety concern for your family and your home’s plumbing. This experience matters when you’re facing freezing temperatures and need someone who can diagnose and fix your system quickly.

But before you make that call, there are a few quick checks you can do yourself. Knowing what information to have ready will also speed up the repair process significantly.

What to Do When Your Heater Suddenly Stops Working

When your furnace fails during a Northern Alberta cold snap, it’s natural to panic. But your heating system usually gives warning signs before it quits. Knowing these signs—and what to do in those first critical moments—can make all the difference.

What are the signs that my heater is about to break down?

Pay attention to what your furnace is trying to tell you:

  • Strange noises: Grinding, squealing, banging, or rattling sounds point to mechanical problems, like a worn-out motor bearing or a loose part.
  • Unusual smells: A faint burning dust smell is normal at the start of the season. However, persistent burning plastic, electrical, or metallic smells are red flags. If you smell rotten eggs, it could be a gas leak—evacuate immediately and call your gas provider.
  • Weak or no airflow: If you feel a weak flow of air from your vents, you could have a clogged filter, a failing blower motor, or ductwork issues.
  • Frequent cycling: A furnace that turns on and off repeatedly (short cycling) wastes energy and puts extra stress on its components.
  • Unexplained spikes in energy costs: If your utility bills are climbing without a change in usage, your system is likely losing efficiency.
  • Yellow pilot light: On older furnaces, a healthy pilot light is blue. A yellow or orange flame indicates incomplete combustion, which can produce dangerous carbon monoxide and requires immediate professional attention.

What should I do immediately when my heater breaks down?

Before calling for help, run through these quick checks:

  1. Check your thermostat: Ensure it’s set to “Heat” and the temperature is set higher than the current room temperature. Check the batteries if it has them.
  2. Check the furnace power switch: Most furnaces have a switch on or near the unit. Make sure it’s in the “On” position.
  3. Check your electrical panel: Look for a tripped circuit breaker. Flip it fully off, then back on.

  1. Check your air filter: A clogged filter can cause your system to overheat and shut down. If you can’t see light through it, replace it.
  2. Check vents and registers: Make sure all heating vents and return air registers are open and not blocked by furniture or other items.
  3. Check exterior vents: Clear any snow or ice blocking your furnace’s intake and exhaust vents outside.

If you’ve tried these steps and still have no heat, it’s time to call a professional. You can find detailed information about Furnace Repair services and what to expect.

What are some common heating system problems and their potential solutions?

  • Clogged air filters: This is the most common issue. The solution is simple: replace your filter every one to three months.
  • Thermostat malfunctions: Sometimes new batteries are all that’s needed. Other times, the thermostat may need to be replaced.
  • Ignition or pilot control problems: Modern electronic ignition systems and older pilot lights can fail, preventing the furnace from starting. This requires a technician to diagnose and repair.
  • Blower motor failure: If the motor that pushes air through your ducts fails, you’ll have little to no airflow. This is a professional repair.
  • Lack of regular maintenance: Many breakdowns are caused by the cumulative effect of dust buildup and worn parts. Regular tune-ups prevent these issues from escalating.

The Repair Visit: What to Expect from Costs to Questions

When the heating technician arrives, the relief is real. But you might be wondering: What happens next, and what will it cost? Let’s walk through what to expect during the repair visit.

What are the typical costs associated with emergency heating repair?

While every repair is different, understanding how costs break down can help set expectations.

  • Service Call Fee: This covers the technician’s travel and time to diagnose the problem and provide an estimate.
  • After-Hours and Emergency Rates: Immediate availability outside normal business hours comes at a premium price.
  • Parts and Labor Costs: This is the core of the bill, determined by the complexity of the repair and the parts needed.

What matters most is upfront, transparent pricing. Before any work begins, you should receive a detailed estimate. Our Emergency Furnace Repair team is committed to giving you clarity before we proceed.

What questions should I ask a heating repair technician?

This is your chance to become an informed homeowner. Don’t hesitate to ask:

  • Are you licensed and insured? This ensures they meet industry standards and protects your home.
  • Do you have experience with my furnace brand? Familiarity can speed up the diagnosis.
  • Can you provide a written estimate? Get all costs in writing before work begins.
  • What warranty comes with the repair? Quality companies stand behind their parts and labor.
  • What was the root cause of the problem? Understanding the “why” can help prevent future issues.
  • Did you notice any other potential issues? This allows you to address problems proactively.
  • How can I maintain my system moving forward? Get advice on filter changes and maintenance schedules.

Before the technician arrives, do your homework. Check online reviews to see what other Northern Alberta homeowners have experienced. Reviews tell you a lot about a company’s reliability and professionalism.

How can I prepare my home for a heating repair visit?

A little preparation makes the process smoother and faster.

  • Clear a path to your furnace. Remove any boxes or clutter blocking access.
  • Make sure the area is well-lit. Good lighting helps the technician work safely and efficiently.
  • Secure your pets. For everyone’s safety and comfort, keep pets in another room.
  • Be available to answer questions. Your input can help with the diagnosis, and you’ll be there to approve the estimate.

Preventing Future Breakdowns: A Proactive Approach to Heating

Once your heater is running again, you’ll want to avoid another emergency. Prevention is always better (and cheaper) than a cure, especially when it comes to staying warm in Northern Alberta.

clean, well-maintained furnace contrasted with a dirty, neglected one - "My heater broke down. Can you find emergency heating repair services in Northern Alberta?"

Are there preventative measures I can take to avoid future breakdowns?

Absolutely. A little care goes a long way in keeping your furnace performing its best.

  • Schedule annual professional maintenance. This is the golden rule. A technician will clean, inspect, and adjust components, catching small issues before they become major problems.
  • Change filters regularly. A clean air filter is crucial for airflow and efficiency. Check it monthly and change it every 1-3 months.
  • Keep vents and registers clear. Blocked vents disrupt airflow and put unnecessary strain on your system.
  • Test your carbon monoxide detectors. Test them monthly and replace batteries as needed to ensure your family’s safety.
  • Listen for unusual sounds. Grinding, squealing, or banging are warning signs. Addressing them early can prevent a complete breakdown.

Our Furnace Repair Edmonton services include preventative maintenance options designed for our climate.

Why is a regular maintenance plan beneficial?

Investing in a maintenance plan is one of the smartest decisions for your heating system. Key benefits include:

  • Improved energy efficiency: A well-maintained furnace uses less energy, lowering your utility bills.
  • Extended equipment lifespan: Proactive care can significantly delay the need for a costly replacement.
  • Fewer unexpected repairs: Technicians can spot and fix potential issues during a scheduled visit.
  • Improved safety and reliability: Checks for gas leaks, carbon monoxide, and faulty wiring provide peace of mind.
  • Maintained warranty: Many manufacturers require annual maintenance to keep your warranty valid.
